Quincy Joins Illinois Channel Network

By car, Quincy is roughly two hours away from Springfield, but beginning January 12th, the State Capitol will be as close as the remote control.  That is the date Illinois Channel programming begins airing on Insight Cable Channel 15, the City of Quincy's new government channel.

Modeled after C-SPAN, the Illinois Channel is a nonprofit corporation providing televised coverage of the Illinois Legislature, Executive Branch officials, Supreme Court cases, and public affairs events held around the state.

The Illinois Channel's programming will be aired Monday through Sunday on Channel 15 from 9:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.  In addition to the evening broadcasts, on Saturday and Sunday the Illinois Channel will also air from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.

"We're very excited to know that our programming will now be seen in Quincy,?said Illinois Channel Executive Director Terry Martin, adding, "We wish to thank Mayor Spring and the City of Quincy for their efforts to bring the Illinois Channel's programming to the citizens of Quincy."

This month marks the Illinois Channel's third year in operation.  Its programming is seen in 78 Illinois communities from Rockford to Carbondale and communities in between.  The Illinois Channel reaches nearly 1,300,000 cable homes with a potential audience of over 4,000,000 citizens.  In addition to its cable broadcasts, Illinois Channel programming is also available via video-streaming to those with a PC and a broadband Internet connection at
