Examining the Proposed Use of Ethanol E-15 Year-Round as a Fuel Additive

Edwardsville – On October 9, at a rally in Iowa, President Trump announced he’s proposing allowing the use of E-15 as a fuel additive, year-round. The use of E-15, which means Ethanol at 15% of a gallon of gasoline, had been limited to use during the eight-month winter driving season.

Some critics say the use of E-15 over the summer driving season will add to smog. John Caupert, Executive Director of the National Corn Ethanol Research Center on the campus of SIUE in Edwardsville — tells the Illinois Channel that claims of additional smog are among the false claims being made by those opposed to Ethanol’s use.
