From the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library: Historian Mark DePue opens the vault of some of the audio clips he’s gathered over the last 12 years, in conversations with those who knew and worked with former Governor Rod Blagojevich. We hear as well the comments of former lobbyist, turned professor and author, Bernie Sieracki, who wrote the definitive book on the impeachment of Rod Blagojevich, “A Just Cause”.
Among the audio clips played are those from former Senator Frank Watson (R), Former Senator Dave Luechtefeld (R) and former Governor Jim Thompson. Each recounts the rather unusual behavior of the Blagojevich — the first governor in the history of Illinois to be impeached, as he was in January 2009, by a vote of 59-0 in the Senate.
