State Treasurer Mike Frerichs (D) on Initiatives and Policy Proposals

From the City Club of Chicago:  State Treasurer Mike Frerichs talks about the stalled state budget, and what his office is doing to fund various programs.  He also talks about the loss of interest income to the state caused by the lack of certainty in state finances, what he’s done to fight life insurance companies that refuse to pay death benefits, and what he’s done to help minority women in business.

On his website, IllinoisTreasurer.Gov  one can enter their name to see if they have money that is owed to them.  Treasurer Frerichs says his office holds cash and many other items that were abandoned in safety deposit boxes over the years.  By entering one’s name, or that of a relative, they can find if the state Treasurer’s office shows whether their is money due to them.
