Gov Rauner, Educators, and Trade Group Leaders, on the Need for Apprenticeship Programs

From Springfield: Gov Rauner holds a meeting with educators and students, about the great paying jobs that are often available to those with a skill in the trades – such as plumbing, welding, auto repair — and the need to train a future generation to fill these positions.

Yet too often, our education system ignores the need to educate in these areas, and instead focuses on directing students solely to higher education. As the Baby-Boom generation retires, many trades are losing experienced workers, with too few in the pipeline to replace them, leaving many high-paying jobs going unfilled.

Gov Rauner urges the need for more apprenticeship programs to help educate and train new workers to be qualified to fill these positions.
