State IDs to Help Cut Recidivism

From Chicago: Gov Rauner signs a bill to allow prisoners to get a state ID, prior to their release, in order to facilitate the convicts getting a job upon their release.

We hear from Secretary of State, Jesse White, as well as lawmakers, who support the law, and from a few ex-convicts, who tell how hard it was to get a job and reengage in society, when they didn’t have the proper documentation needed when applying for a job.

This reform is part of Gov Rauner’s Criminal Justice Reform effort, that aims to reduce Illinois prison population by 25% over the next 10 years.
