Rep Bob Rita, House Sponsor, of SB 2814, the plan to Subsidize Two ComEd Nuclear Power Plants

From the State Capitol:  We talk with Rep Bob Rita (D), House sponsor of SB-2814, the bill to subsidize two nuclear power plants that ComEd had threatened to close down, due to their losing money.  The plants are located in the Quad-Cities area and one in Clinton.

With 4200 jobs at stake, and millions of dollars in various taxes paid by the plant, lawmakers were anxious to find a way to save the plants, in what was one of the most controversial pieces of legislation in 2016.

Rep Rita talks about the merits of the bill, that had gone through several last-minute changes before coming to a vote on the last day of the 2016 fall Veto Session.
