Fmr Sen Adlai Stevenson (D-IL), was the great-grandson of a Vice President, and the son of Gov Adlai Stevenson who twice ran for President on the Democratic ticket against Dwight Eisenhower. Each of the Stevensons kept a collection of speeches, jokes, and stories that could be used when addressing a crowd. In the Stevenson family, the black binder that held these tidbits, was referred to as “The Black Book” Given the history he personally witnessed, and the history of his family, we sat down in December, 2009, for a One-on-One with former Sen Stevenson, in the very room that was once his father’s office, and where visitors included John F Kennedy and Eleanor Roosevelt.
