Illinois' Nonprofit
Organizations
Illinois' Nonprofit
organizations are the third leg of the Illinois economy, providing
critical services to citizens. Many of these organizations carry
out government services on a contractual basis for by state and local
governments. This saves taxpayers because the nonprofits can
operate in a more cost-effective manner as their staff are frequently
aided by volunteers, and the costs of running the nonprofits are also
supported by individual donations and private grants. Because the funds
from government grants do not have to support the entire cost of the
nonprofit's operation, government services managed by nonprofits are
generally very efficient.
Advisory Council membership is
by invitation only, based upon previous civic and societal
accomplishments. We recognize them here for their service to the
Illinois Channel and the state of Illinois.
