The Illinois Channel began
following a Planning Study, Co-Chaired by Gov Jim Edgar and Sen Paul
Simon, that looked into establishing an "Illinois Channel" dedicated to
providing coverage of state government modeled after C-SPAN.
In January 2003,
Illinois Channel began operations as an independent, nonprofit
Affairs programming on the Illinois Channel includes:
coverage of legislative committee hearings
coverage of the executive and judicial branches of state government
policy events taking place across Illinois
Illinois issues and
congressional delegation in DC
