Members
The Illinois Channel Advisory
Council consists of civic-minded individuals from communities across
Illinois, who are committed to helping the Illinois Channel continue its
commercial-free coverage of Illinois government and public affairs. By
fundraising and sharing their expertise with the Illinois Channel, they
keep us informed of issues in their fields and in their communities.
Advisory Council membership is
by invitation only, based upon previous civic and societal
accomplishments. We recognize them here for their service to the
Illinois Channel and the state of Illinois.

William J.
Fleischli: Springfield

William J.
Fleischli is the executive vice president of the Illinois Petroleum
Marketers Association/Illinois Association of Convenience Stores.
Mr. Fleischli is a native of Springfield, Illinois and a graduate of
St. Louis University in Missouri with a degree in teacher education.
After graduation he embarked on an 11-year career in teaching.
Afterwards, he moved on to various management position in state
government.
In 1994, William
assumed his current position of executive vice president of IPMA/IACS.
In June of 1996, he accepted a national award in government
relations from the American Society of Association Executives in
Washington D.C. He and the IPMA/IACS staff were honored for
leading the association's comprehensive campaign to pass an
important piece of legislation that was integral to the livelihood
of its members.
William and his
wife Cindi reside in Springfield and are the parents of four sons:
Cullen, Evan, Billy and Ryan. |

Brian Kasal:

Brian is a native
Illinoisan who is proud to serve as the State Chairman for the
Illinois Energy Forum and help Illinois citizens address the growing
challenge of energy security through a non-partisan comprehensive,
balanced approach.
After
graduating from Northern Illinois University with a BA in economics,
Brian earned an MBA from University of Chicago’s Booth School of
Business and has been servicing clients in the financial industry
for over 26 years. He is also an active member in the community,
serving as a Board Member for the Boy Scouts of America, with the
Union League of Chicago and with the Lincoln Central Association.
With his long-standing experience in business and the community,
Brian sees the need to create a balanced approach to developing
energy policy that helps families and communities while protecting –
and creating – American jobs.

James Monk:
Springfield

James R. Monk is
President and Chief Executive Officer of the Illinois Energy
Association, which represents seven electric and combination
electric and natural gas investor-owned utilities in the State of
Illinois. The Association offices are located in the capitol city
of Springfield.
Before being
appointed to his current position with the Energy Association,
Mr. Monk served as Chairman of the Indiana Utility Regulatory
Commission for five years. Prior to that, he practiced law in
Sullivan, Indiana and represented the 39th State Senate District in
the Indiana General Assembly. While serving in the Indiana Senate
from 1982-89, Mr. Monk was the ranking minority member on the Senate
Judiciary Committee and also served on the Education and Commerce
Committees.
Mr. Monk earned
his Bachelor’s Degree at Indiana University with a major in history
in 1970. He earned his law degree from the University of Florida in
1977. He, his wife Maritza, and
their family reside in the Springfield area. |

Duane Noland:

N. Duane Noland
is the President & Chief Executive Officer for the Association of
Illinois Electric Cooperatives based in Springfield. The
Association provides legal, engineering, communication, safety
training and legislative representation for 25 electric
cooperatives, three generation and transmission cooperatives and
eight telephone cooperatives. Since formed in 1942, Noland is
the fourth president of the Association.
After graduation
from the University of Illinois with a B.S. in Agriculture, Noland
became the seventh generation to operate the centennial family farm
in Macon and Christian counties. As a member of the Illinois
General Assembly, Noland represented the citizens of central
Illinois serving four terms in the Illinois House of Representatives
and two terms in the Senate, retiring as Assistant Majority Leader.
An active civic and agricultural leader, he serves on the board of
directors for Millikin University, Decatur Memorial Hospital,
Chairman of the Illinois Ag in the Classroom Coalition and on
America's Heartland National Advisory Board. Duane and his
wife Tina are the parents of two sons and a daughter. |

David is a
lifetime-resident of Illinois. He graduated from Rich Central
High School in Olympia Fields in 1968 and he received his B.S. in
Political Science and History from Illinois State University in
1972. After interning with the Illinois legislative staff, he
was hired as a full-time legislative consultant for the Illinois
Senate Republican staff in 1974. In 1976, he jointed the
Illinois Petroleum Council as associate director and was appointed
executive director in 1986.
In 1996, David
co-founded the Partnership for Environmental Progress. He is
an active member of the Illinois Society of Association Executives
and Business and Industry Federation. He and his wife, Marcia,
reside in Springfield and have two children, Amy and Jonathan. |

As Executive
Director of the Illinois Energy Council at the Illinois State
Chamber of Commerce, Tom Wolf is working to educate business and
policy leaders throughout the state on the energy choices we're
going to be facing in the coming years, as well as advocating for
policies that enhance the opportunities to build energy
infrastructure of all kinds in the state in an environmentally
responsible and cost competitive manner. Let's not forget that
energy development equals economic development
