Abortion Backlash: Bishop Paprocki “No Communion for Madigan and Cullerton”

June 7 – Springfield’s Catholic Bishop, Thomas Paprocki is banning Speaker Madigan and Senate President John Cullerton from taking communion during mass. The ban applies only to the Springfield Archdiocese, while both men live in the Chicago area.

The ban is in response to the Legislature passing an expansion of abortion law, that removes the ban from having an abortion in the last three months. Bishop Paprocki says his responsibility is to enforce the teachings of the Church which has always condemned the killing of a child in the womb. Paprocki says you can’t receive communion as if you are a Catholic in good standing while working to expand the taking of human life by liberalizing abortion laws.
