Our One-on-One with Dr Tom Bertrand, of the Illinois School Assn of School Boards

Springfield – The task of managing the dollars, staff, and host of changing challenges in education has never been greater. As this Spring legislative session proves again, the issues impacting schools are ever constant. With that in mind, we sit down with Dr Tom Bertrand, who took over as Executive Director of the Illinois Association of School Boards last July.

Now, with a new school funding formula in effect, with a new law increasing the state’s minimum wage, with other proposals to set a minimum $40,000 a year teacher’s salary, and the on-going challenges of transportation costs, school safety, mental health issues among students, we connect with Dr Bertrand, to catch up on these and other significant issues impacting Illinois schools.
