From Chicago – At the Illinois Association of School Boards annual conference, Senators Scott Bennett (D) and Chuck Weaver (R), are joined by Illinois State Superintendent Tony Smith, as they give an update on educational issues expected to come up in the new legislature.
The challenges for many districts across the state are the inability to find enough teachers or substitute teachers.
School Board Members are also adapting to the new school funding formula and seeking additional funds to meet education mandates.
And schools across the state are continuing to feel the impact of soaring pension costs in the state budget, and squeeze that’s had on future funding of education.
