Illinois Report on Pregnancy and Deaths Shows Disturbing Findings

Chicago –– First Lady Diana Rauner and the Head of the Illinois Dept of Public Health, release the results of the first study of maternity and morbidity rates. The results show that on average, 73 women in Illinois die annually from pregnancy or post-pregnancy.

We see that diet and lifestyles contribute to the death rates among women who become pregnant, and that 44% of those women who die, obesity was a contributing factor.
