Springfield, October 12, 2018 – With the fight on to hold the US House for Republicans, Vice President Mike Pence today came to Springfield to campaign for Congressman Rodney Davis in the 13th district, that takes in Eastern and Central Illinois. Ever since his first election in 2012 by a mere 1,500 votes — the closest in the nation that year – Congressman Davis has been targeted by Democrats looking to flip the district.
With Democrats looking to pickup 24 seats around the nation to take control of the US House, Davis’ seat is one of their top targets – and one of three GOP seats in Illinois the Democrats think they have a shot at capturing. Also in tight races are Rep Peter Roskam (6th Dist) and in Southern Illinois, Rep Mike Bost (12th Dist) who was first elected in 2014.
That Davis’ seat is competitive is why Vice President Pence came to Springfield today to campaign at a fundraiser organized by the Davis campaign.
