From the City Club of Chicago: State Treasurer Mike Frerichs talks about the reforms and initiatives that he’s implemented in his first term and how that’s lead to the state making more interests on its investments. He also shares his fight with life insurance companies who were failing to tell beneficiaries that they had money due to them, when a relative died with a policy in place.
Treasurer Frerichs grew up around Champaign/Urbana, is a graduate of Yale, and speaks Chinese. He previously served in the Illinois Senate before being elected State Treasurer in 2014, and is seeking re-election to a second term in November. .
