Scott Neville Jr Sworn-In as the Newest Member of the Illinois Supreme Court

Chicago, June 15, 2018 —  P. Scott Neville Jr on Friday became the newest member of the seven-member Illinois Supreme Court.   Neville takes the place of 84-year old Justice Charles Freeman, the first African-American to sit on the state Supreme Court.

P.Scott Neville, Jr will be the second.

Neville served as an Appellate Court justice for the past 14 years. He had previously served as a circuit judge in Cook County beginning with the election in 2000.

Justice Anne Burke will administer the oath for Nevill, who will serve until 2020, and then will have the option of running for election to a full 10-year term, if he should so choose.
