From Washington: We speak with reporter Jinitzail Hernandez, who sat in on the oral arguments of the US Supreme Court case of Janus v AFSCME, which involves a state worker from Springfield, IL — Mark Janus — who does not want to be compelled to join a union in order to work for the state of Illinois.
The union representing state workers is the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, or AFSCME. But as we hear, this case holds significant implications for union workers across the nation, and may hold a significant impact on future elections.
