Cook County Hit with Sexual Harassment Class-Action Lawsuit by Female Public Defender Attorneys

CHICAGO – The Associated Press reports Female public defenders filed a sexual harassment lawsuit in Chicago, which alleges Cook County officials failed to properly protect them.  The suit cites instances of inmates who during visits by their public defender, masturbate in front of the lawyers at the jail and at courthouse holding cells.

The federal lawsuit describes encounters in which detainees masturbate and leer at lawyers. It seeks class action status on behalf of women working for the Public Defender’s office, including more than 200 of 400 staff attorneys.
