State Rep Brian Stewart (R) to Run for Senate to Replace Tim Bivins (R)

Rep Brian Stewart (R)

Rockford — State Representative Brian Stewart will join the list of Republican House members who are not seeking re-election to the House, but in Stewart’s case, he’s hoping to join the Illinois Senate.

Stewart wants to fill the Senate seat being vacated by the retirement of Sen Tim Bivins.   Stewart was first elected to the House in 2012.   He’s a businessman, with a background in law enforcement having served as a county deputy. He also served as the President of the Stephenson County Employees UAW local 2261.

While Stewart may help the Republicans hold onto the Senate seat in the 45th District, it won’t help House Republican Leader Jim Durkin, or Gov Rauner, in their effort to pick up 9 new House seats to take control of the House.
