AT&T Testimony on Getting Out of “Copper Wire” Technology

From the State Capitol:  We hear testimony from the President of AT&T of Illinois, on the need to have regulations on the old land-line phone technology be upgraded.

While some continue to use the copper-wire landline connections for their phone service, the vast majority of landlines are now based upon an Internet connection.

We hear why AT&T says it needs to be released from the requirements to maintain the decades old technology, so that it can put that money toward a system of phone service that is based on current technology.
