From the State Capitol: At issue is what protections — if any — should be accorded to our private information that is gathered by the websites we visit. Websites use various information grabbing tools, such a cookies, which gather and can track where else you go on the Internet. This information is often sold by websites to marketers.
We hear from Sen Mike Hastings (D), about his legislation SB-1502, that would seek to put controls on the sale of such information.
We also hear from Mike Reever, a spokesman from the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce, and hear why they feel this legislation could make it cost prohibitive to operate a website, for all but big business.
And Mr Reever shares with us how the lack of a state budget is impacting individuals and businesses in the Chicago area economy.
