From Springfield: Gov Rauner and Dept of Illinois Technology [DoIT] Director, Hardik Bhatt talk about the progress they’ve made in updating the state’s computer systems, many of these are over 30 years old. While spending millions to upgrade the system, the Gov argues this will allow the state to both process govt functions more effectively, and allow the administration to cut down on such things as Medicaid fraud, by allowing systems to cross-reference data.
Director Bhatt notes they are also taking steps to upgrade the security on the state’s systems, which hold sensitive data on Illinois businesses and taxpayers.
While making the announcement, Gov Rauner was critical of Comptroller Susana Mendoza, who he says is taking steps to cut off funding for these computer upgrades.
