President Trump on the Gerald Ford Aircraft Carrier on Speaks on Military Spending

From Newport News, Virginia:  Speaking from the Gerald R Ford Aircraft carrier, President Trump talks about the need to rebuild the military, and notes that the US Navy is now smaller than at any time since World War I.   In his remarks, the President talks about how the Navy saved the United States in its battles in the Pacific in WWI, with its ability to project American military power across the vast expanse of the Pacific theater.

The current Defense budget is $526 Billion.  President Trump is proposing to increase Defense spending to $603 Billion for FY 2018.

The President said his intention would be to expand the Navy to a 12 Carrier Naval force.   His plan would also be to expand the nation’s fighter force, with the F-35 fighter jet, and to update the military’s cyber capabilities.
