From the City Club of Chicago: Hardik Bhatt, the designated director of the new Illinois Dept of Technology — nick named DoIT — talks about his department’s on-going progress to upgrade the state government’s woefully outdated technology.
He shares the oldest computer system being used by the state, goes back to 1974, with many other systems dating to the mid-1980s. With an upgrade in technology, he explains how government can cut down on fraud, be more responsive to citizen services, and reduce the state’s operating costs.
