Illinois House Cmte Hearing on Releasing Federal Funds for IL Social Services

During an hour + long committee hearing, House Democratic members debated with their Republican colleagues, on whether to approved a bill allowing the release of $4.8 Billion in Federal funds for social services, or whether to pass a version that included $585 million in additional state funds, which was the version approved by House Democrats. While Senate Democrats passed a version of the bill that included just the $4.8 Billion in Federal Funds — an amount Gov Rauner and Republican lawmakers favored — the House Democrats held out for a version of the bill that included the additional funds, even though Gov Rauner said he would veto such a bill.
