Dalitso Sulamoyo, Executive Director of the Community Action Agencies, talks with the Illinois Channel’s Shirley Descorbeth, about the impact on Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program [ LIHEAP], if the Governor follows through with cuts to the state’s portion of the funding. Illinois provides about 1/3 of the LIHEAP funding — Although, these funds are NOT a part of the General Revenue Funds, but come from utility consumers contributing 48 cents a month to the LIHEAP program. Those funds first go to the state for distribution to the Community Action Agencies.
